*Match Report* Vs Frodsham Juniors U7s (part 2)

(Chris Lawton 07/10/2019)
Congleton Rovers U7's Vs Frodsham Juniors U7's (05/10/19)

Match 2:

Before the match began, a line up and a respectful handshake took place between the players of each team. Following this, the players dropped back into their starting diamond formation, ready for the match to begin.

When the match commenced it was clear to see that this game was going to be a tight contest. Frodsham started more positively by having a number of quick breaks on goal, but Troy, who bravely volunteered to be Rovers’ first half goalkeeper, made some excellent and vital saves to keep his team in the game. In support of Troy, Alex was also fearlessly putting his body on the line to ensure the Rovers goal was not breached.

Once Rovers settled into the match, the pacey wide players, Logan and Alfie started to work some magic on the wings and helped to push Frodsham back into their own half of the pitch. In addition to this, the powerful Captain Ollie was also starting to take the game by the scruff of the neck, creating a number of quality chances. This became a common theme throughout the latter part of the first half and Rovers were clearly becoming the more dominant side.

The second half began with a much changed Rovers team. Troy moved into midfield and was replaced in goals by Alex. Ollie moved into defense, and Alfie/Logan were replaced by Matthew/ Arthur. The fresh legged substitutes took no time in getting involved in the game, with all three players showing great touches and tirelessly putting the Frodsham players under pressure. Rovers finished the second half much like the first, producing a strong overall team performance.

At the final whistle, all players shook hands as a sign of respect and joined their managers for a summary of the game.

Congratulations to Ollie, Logan, and Alfie for scoring their first league goals for the club.

Match 3
Before the match began, a line up and a respectful handshake took place between the players of each team. Following this, the players dropped back into their starting diamond formation, ready for the match to begin.

The third match was the most closely contested match of the morning, with both sides cancelling each other out in the defensive thirds of the pitch. The first half saw very few opportunities for both sides, with Rovers slightly on top. Some excellent runs from Ollie down the right wing and great link up play with Captain Mason provided a threat to the Frodsham goal throughout the first half, resulting in several corners to the home side. Frodsham defended in numbers and broke into a counter attack whenever they won the ball. Luckily for Rovers, William was covering with energy, and the unfaltering Jack was like an unmoveable rock for the team, thwarting any attacks at the Rovers goal.

In the second half, Jayden came out of goals for the volunteering Ollie, and Fletcher entered the field of play in place of William. Fletcher and Jayden brought some outstanding energy and enthusiasm to the team, closing Frodsham down quickly at every opportunity. Substitutions were continued to be rotated throughout the half, bringing Mason off and William back on the field. As the match went on, Frodsham began to grow into the game, causing more problems to the Rovers defense. Ollie in goals was on his toes on a few occasions, quickly sprinting out and sweeping up play with excellent distribution to his team mates.

At the final whistle, all players shook hands as a sign of respect and joined their managers for a summary of the game.

Congratulations to Mason for scoring his first league goal for the club.

All three matches were played in a fun and enjoyable manner, with all players from both Rovers and Frodsham behaving impeccably.

Well done to all!!!
