Home Win Against Grappenhall Reds
(Brian Roberts 08/01/2018)
A fantastic 5 - 1 win against a team that beat us earlier in the season. A great team performance with goals from Oliver, Jack, Ben and two from Ellis. I asked Olly to play in a few experimental roles which he always does without complaint and he did well in every position. I have no problem that Josh isn’t getting on the score sheet as much this season because he commands our games from the centre of midfield - the same on Sunday great individual performance. Quality captains performance from Evan and Connor keeping a dangerous Grappenhall attack at bay. Special mention to Jordan who was solid at left back, Jack who scored because he chased a what looked like a lost cause and a great performance from Liam who shows his class with some great passes. Both Owen and Lewis continue with near faultless performances - they rarely cause a fuss but always deliver. Oliver M is back to scoring and long may that continue with our other new signing Callum who also played a blinder - it feels like these two have been with us forever. Ben showed his natural ability with a great finish coming off the bench and Ellis just oozed class - but for me it is Ellis’s hard work that makes the difference to this team. Finally for the players - while he didn’t have the busiest game ever but when we were only one nil down Cam was there to make an incredible save that may have changed how this game eventually tuned out.
I need to give a final mention to Dean, Dave & Howard who make match day a pleasure with their advise, good humour and patience - cheers guys,
