No Easy Games This Season!!!
(Brian Roberts 28/01/2018)
A 5 - 2 home win against a really impressive Frodsham team was by no means straight forward. Frodsham scored first and looked really up for the fixture. No excuses but we had a number of players recovering from ‘Manflu” and you could see some guys really suffering out there - so well done guys. Goals from Ellis (2), Ben, Oliver and Connor resulted in another three points and a faultless start to 2018. Lots of tough matches ahead of us but a great start.
Cam - one of our ‘sick boys’ who bravely turned up not feeling 100% and again was great today. Making two great saves one in each half. Also loving the new hair cut.
Jordan - spent the majority of the time on the pitch and you can see his fitness getting better and better. Can’t remember him putting a foot wrong and was impressive with free kicks.
Lewis - one of our most under appreciated players he rarely makes a mistake and just gets on with being a tower of strength in defence - well done today.
Owen - another player recovering from flu but you couldn’t tell with a great performance he battled with some physically strong players and won them all.
Olly - This boy is a managers dream. I have been trying to play Olly as a wing back for the last few games and its a slow process because he doesn’t want to leave a gap at the back - but we need to force him forward more as he is frightening running at our opposition.
Connor - Starting as sub as he really had not recovered from the flu - what does he do? He comes on and scores a goal!!!!! It came from a corner and he was the first to react to a loose ball to head it home.
Josh - he was definitely feeling poorly today but still showed utter class it a tough midfield. He seems to have so much time on the ball even when the opposition put two/three players around him. Class class class.
Callum - forming a good relationship with Josh. He is tenacious and strong and is proving to be a great signing this season.
Oliver – His determined and professional performances gets him a starting position every week. He was quick in the second half From a clearance by Frodsham to keep his cool and slot the ball home. Quality Player.
Ellis – this guy made all the difference not only with his sheer ability but his determination – he starts defending for this team up front. They find it difficult to create any opportunities with him ‘hounding them’ every time they get the ball. Scored two great goals one in each half both from impossible angles plus setting Ben up for his goal. Amazing player and an attitude to match it. Man of the match.
Liam – he started up front, then left wing, then right wing whew turning into a right utility player. I still haven’t decided where to get the best out of this guy but he has a great touch and an ever greater personality – keep going Liam.
Ben – He made a fantastic gesture at the end of the game by speaking to the Ref – it shows how this player has grown and grown in stature this season. He scored a great goal from a majestical pass from Ellis. Ben was cool enough to take it around the keeper for a goal that gave some relief to the manager and coaches.
Evan – Captain’s performance. The coaches commented on the side line that this player rarely makes a mistake and is a great mentor to the other players. His influence on the game is often under appreciated.
