11 - 1 Win Against Grappenhall
(Brian Roberts 11/06/2018)
Super start to the pre-season with a very professional performance against one of our oldest rivals Grappenhall.
Dylan - not much to do but beginning to look comfortable in a Witton shirt and the communications with the defence is starting. There will be significantly more tests coming up pre-season.
Cam (1) - what a great header for that goal from a quality Liam cross. I have always wanted a big centre football (maybe we had it all the time).
Lewis – He didn’t put a foot wrong today. He was patient while I experimented with different formations in defence but professional when he came on. Exactly what we need from all players.
Charlie - solid as a rock at the back and so comfortable on the ball looking good alongside Connor. I’m looking forward to seeing this player next season.
Owen – Class act as ever. Always dependable in defence we now want to see him moving forward. You can’t underestimate what he brings to this team.
Connor – Captains performance and great communication with Dylan, Charlie and Tom around him.
Macauley – great debut performance – skilful, tricky and a real attacking opportunity coming out of defence. Interesting times ahead with this boy in the team!!
Jordan – within a few minutes of coming on heads a ball away that was goal bound. He then has a faultless defending performance at left back – impressed.
Liam – came on twice to help on the right side of midfield – on the second occasion he left his defender standing and sent a superb cross to Cam to head home. Pleased for this guy!!!
Evan (1) – We know exactly what we get from this player ever week a consistent and determined performance. So why expect anything else well done Evan. A well deserved goal to cap this performance.
Josh – We can already see how this player is relishing the opportunity to play with his new colleagues. His class always shines through - things are just going to get better and better for Josh as he works with the new players.
Tom (2) – (Man of The Match) I’ve seen a few great goals in my years of being involved in football but Tom’s goal was right up there with the best. His vision to see the gap at the left hand post and to bend it around the defenders from 30 yards out was an absolute pleasure to watch. Utter footballing genius and we have the pleasure to watch him all next season now.
Callum (1) – a great goal capped a great performance. A managers dream he does his best wherever I ask him to play (expect right back apparently!!!).
Ellis (3) – no surprise our left wing Maestro scores a hat-trick (two of them as he played as centre forward!!!). No wonder he was last seasons fans favourite.
Gerard – it feels like this player has been with us for ever!!! He has fitted in perfectly up front. I tried different players working with him and they all looked good so that hasn’t helped my selection process!!! Don’t forget you have to give your boots to Cam because he scored.
Oliver – Another player relishing the new players around him. Good effort up front and a position I am going to try him in again pre-season.
Ben (3) – We know this boys has class but his determination was the most impressive in this game and it was that skill that provided him three goals. A great performance.
Sam – A surprise arrival for the fixture but was awesome at left back and left wing. He made life very very difficult for the the Grappenhall defence. Another class player.
