Home Win 9 - 0 V Holmes Chapel
(Brian Roberts 04/11/2018)
Great Win this afternoon Holmes Chapel have not been beaten like that in the league for many seasons. Sandbach managed to score one goal past them and we managed NINE!!! It is impossible to identify individual players because as a squad we are playing so consistent. As a coach to be able to inter-change players across the park and not disrupt the quality of the football is such a pleasure. Four goals from Sean, two from Ben, and one each from Ellis Oliver and Callum made it look a comfortable win. But don’t forget that save that Dylan made in the first half when we were only one goal up. Thank you to all the parents for your great support again and lets take each game at a time but I can tell you how proud I am of this squad of players.
The goal scorers rightly get a mention each week buts lets take a look across the whole team.
1. Dylan – playing like a sweeper constantly looking for the ball to support the defence. I loved the Bruce Grobbelaar moment in the second half because we were 7 – 0 up at the time!! But while it was a quiet game for him he was there when we needed him for that great save in the first half.
2. Owen – what a game he had, arguably one of his best performances. When he goes forward he feels like he is going to score every time – you can’t beat that confidence. I want to see him pushing forward more and more this season. One in the pot for Man of match performance.
3. Connor – Mr consistent had another great game today – it felt weird to bring him off but this squad is playing so well we have the opportunity to give our Captain a breather. Colossal as ever.
4. George – beginning to feel like an incredible signing for 2018/19. As comfortable in the centre of midfield as the centre of defence. Looking so good on set pieces and I am looking forward seeing this this boy this season.
5. Jordan – welcome back mate !! Slipped back in to the team after a break with an injury. Even looked comfortable up front (I would love to have seen him score!!). Solid at left back.
6. Callum – Another nomination for Man of The Match. Strong, physical but also skilful and influential in the game. Great match.
7. Josh – quality performance from our VC. Controlled the game from the centre of midfield and was unlucky not to score today. If Sky Sports were there today I don’t think they would have recorded a singled missed pass.
8. Evan – the unsung hero, tenacious and endless energy – his contribution to our success is not appreciated fully by everybody. Another super performance.
9. Oliver M – I asked him at the beginning of the game to work hard – anybody that saw his second half performance when he played as a centre forward cannot deny his commitment and determination. I am so pleased he scored today.
10. Olly S – he just got better and better and better as this game went on. I liked the look of him on the right wing and he never forgets his defensive duties. Deserved a goal today but set a few of the guys up and can feel very proud of his performance.
11. Ben – I was so proud of this player today – because early on no matter his determination it didn’t look like he was going to score today. But his character drove him to try, try and try again. He was rewarded with a brace of goals. Well done throughly deserved.
12. Sean – four goals. Quality player with the most incredible footballing attitude. He will score so many this season.
13. Ellis – Let’s not forget how lucky we are to have a player with as much ability as this boy! Only one goal but was involved in everything up front. Star ⭐️
