Although we lost this match 6 - 2 against North West Youth Alliance Giants Altricham Under 18 - the score line doesn’t tell the whole tale. I think we took these guys by surprise. I think they anticipated an easy win but they certainly did not get that! A great goal by Ellis in the first half had us level at the break and we looked good for that. The ridiculous rule that we couldn’t use roll on/off subs made it tough to get the balance right and every player has earnt time on the pitch. It was a very competitive game and Dylan made some fantastic saves but we were in it for a long time. Until, if we are totally honest, their fitness levels began to show. We looked tired and they passed the ball well around us - but I still don’t think they deserved six goals!! In the last few minutes Tom went on a great run in the box and would have scored if he hadn’t been kicked over. Our vice captain Josh was very cool slotting the spot kick away.

To put this into context this is an Under 18 NWYA team and these Witton boys battled and matched them for large parts of this game - we got two goals and deserved more - they can feel proud of this performance.
