10 1 Home Win V Betley

(Brian Roberts 20/01/2019)
** Today we became League Champions – congratulations Players Coaches and Supporters **

Goals from Ben 2 Sean 1 Luke 2 Tom 2 Oliver M 1 George 1 Owen.

Again looks like a straight forward win but this could have been so different if it hadn’t been three outstanding saves from Dylan early on (and one or two more during the game). Our back three of George, Connor and Owen were awesome again supported by Evan as out anchorman. But when Lewis came on a back four looked really comfortable as well.

Great performances from every player but even they weren’t on the score sheet special shout out to Ellis, Olly S, Jordan and Josh.

It started off very tense and Betley we arguably the slightly better side in those first few minutes and if it hadn’t been for our Dylan this may have been a different write up!! But we had a few set pieces and then finally Sean got us a poachers goal from a corner 1 – 0. George suggested we work on set piece and corners at training and it was obviously well worth it as he was on the end of a move and slotted the ball away beautifully 2 - 0. Goal number three came from sheer determination from Tom making it 3 – 0. Tom involved again this time to set up Luke for a tap in from a few yards out 4 - 0. But what a great goal next with Luke lobbing a stranded Betley keeper to make it 5 – 0.

Well that was going to be it for half time wasn’t it – well we know Owen loves scoring against Betley but this was special from the LHS only just past the halfway line we can debate whether it was a cross or a shot but if you don’t try you’ll never score – 6 – 0. Half time

Oliver M makes it 7 – 0 just after halftime with a well worked goal down the RHS. Two quick goals from Ben to age it 8 – 0 then 9 – 0. Then to finish us (or rather Betley) off Tom twists and turns in the box and smashes the ball past the keeper for 10 – 0.

A late penalty for Betley gave them a consolation goal but it meant very little by the end we were Champions and these boys should feel very proud.
