After The Lord Mayor's Show
(Nicola Bogue 06/05/2019)
After the celebrations of being league champions in the previous match the team came back to earth with a bump in this game. The match was played in warm sunshine and the home game was played in unfamiliar surroundings at The County High School, Leftwich.
The game got off to a slow start with the Warriors lacking their usual energy and fast tempo which has been their trademark all season.
Hartford created the early chances. On five minutes Mason made a good save low down.
Hartford took the lead on 18 minutes. A cross from the right was flicked past Mason. 0:1.
It was the 24th minute until the Warriors created a scoring chance. A clearance from the Hartford keeper fell to Robbie and he returned a looping shot with the keeper just managing to get back in position to tip the ball away from goal.
Just before half time the Warriors got an equaliser. A fine move resulted from a Hartford corner. Harley cleared out of defence and the ball passed between Lucas and Callum before Robbie sprinted clear to score.
Half time 1:1
Virtually straight from the restart Hartford scored. A run down the right resulted in a cross to the edge of the Warriors box and a low shot into the corner of the net. 1:2.
Hartford dominated in the second half. After 35 minutes Hartford won a penalty but squandered the opportunity with a shot off target.
Two minutes later Hartford scored again 1:3. Further goals on 45, 50, 57 and 60 minutes gave Hartford a well-deserved 7:2 victory.
Harry score a consolation goal on 58 minutes. He collected a clearance by Mason and turned to score on the run.
In a game to forget for the Warriors, man of the match was awarded to Harley who put in a battling performance throughout the game.
