Weaveham Yellow
(Steve Comboy 18/11/2019)
This weekend we welcomed Weaverham Yellow in the Mid Cheshire District FA Cup for a local derby. Weaverham who sit mid table in the third division were a bit of an unknown quantity as their side comprises mainly of last year Cuddington side who we met in the final.
After the pre-match chat we opted for the usual formation and when the whistle blew we were in immediate control and before long the goals started to flow.
A healthy 4-0 lead was taken into the half time break and was then followed up by a further 5 goals to make the result comprehensive. Some excellent play across the whole team and whilst Weaverham never troubled our keeper this was down to some excellent defending by the whole of the back four.
Some lovely goals as well, a quick free kick caught Waeverham napping, Charlie Keeney with a great shot which was well saved but followed up by a header from the rebound, Charlie Lam sold the keeper and finished low down in the bottom corner and a superb header from Tom Ball to name a few.
Well done to Charlie Keeney today for his two goals and his parents man of the match and to Spencer for his faultless performance at the back to earn him the managers player.
Were getting near to the business end of this competition now, look out for a 1st division team in the next round!
