Wolves V Gladiators 24/11/19
(Riz Mansoor 24/11/2019)
Match report by Rich Prescott
After last weeks result in the cup against Cuddington, we had to bounce back to ensure the confidence returned to the boys and by goodness it did. What better way to achieve this than playing the league leaders at home.
The coaches changed the line up slightly by bringing an extra body into midfield to sure things up, by starting with Rueben, Max and Charlie B In central midfield flanked by Luca to the left and Jack A on the right. The first 20 minutes we dominated the midfield which put pressure on their defence and we quickly went in front with a great cross from the right which was converted by Luca.
We scored a second shortly after with a great ball by Jack A to Charlie B who saw the goalie off his line and chipped into the net. The third followed shortly after, with both Nicki and Luca going for a stray ball at the edge of the box, with Luca making great contact with the ball hitting to back of the net. Once we went 3-0 up the team stopped doing the basics and thus allowing Grappenhall to get a little more confidence and soon after half time getting a goal back.
They soon gained more possession and scored a second with the defence faulting in parts, 3-2 it was. After a couple of subs, we started to gained control of the midfield once more, and a goal from Jack A settled some nerves. Shortly after a brilliant individual goal from Nicky finished any hope for Grappenhall: receiving the ball on the half way line, battling with a couple of defenders, off Nicky went with his long strides, and the strong shot nestled in the back of the net.
A really good performance by the whole squad, and to beat the league leaders is fabulous so well done to all. A strong performance in midfield by Rueben earned him the MOTM, well done to you.
Goals Luca 2, Charlie B, Jack A and Nicky
