Wolves V Winsford Colts 19/01/20

Wolves V Winsford Colts 19/01/20
Many games called off due to weather but we managed to play. Cold, foggy and frosty on arrival to Winsford pitch, but this didn’t dampen the boys spirit!
It was a difficult pitch to play on due to the boys struggling with their control as the ground was hard which made the ball unpredictable but they coped very well.
Wolves took the lead with 3 goal, two from Niky and one from Luca.
What great finishes and brilliant team build up for them. The boys were up for it and played fantastically.
Colts started to get momentum and scored two quick soft goals. The boys started to panic and it was evident from the side lines.
Colts them equalised which brought more pressure on the lads and heads started to drop.
Half time came and the message was to play our game and not panic on the ball. Wolves started off slow and Colts we’re fighting for everything. As always Colts put up a very physical game and credit to them. Our boys handled everything they threw at us. We played some good football which led to our 4th goal by Niky! Well done!!
This eased off the pressure but we knew we had to be strong and move the ball quickly. Coming to the end of the game I could see Zakee having difficulties with their right winger, so we changed him Jack A. Great attitude from Jack and got on with the job. Well done.
In the closing minutes Colts piled on the pressure and Charlie A, made an awesome save but unfortunately the rebound fell to one of their players and that pretty much sealed the draw for both teams.
The lads were upset, which is understandable as they knew they should have won the game comfortably. The passion these boys show is great and I can’t criticise them for this.
The boys have come so far from the beginning of the season but they can’t seem to see this so it’s important for us all to reinforce this message to them all.
They have taken everything on board in training sessions and it is showing on the pitch, which is really rewarding personally for us coaches.
We have had feedback from some parents and it’s important that this continues. If anyone thinks we need to work on other specifics during training or any other activities which promotes team building then let us know. I’m open to a little criticism too so please tell me as this is not my team it’s our team collectively. The welfare and the happiness of the boys will always be paramount to me, although the boys may think it’s not when they’re getting drilled.
Well done Niky for MOTM!
