Sandbach Kites - A Game Of Two Halves
(Colin Latter 26/01/2020)
Given the opposition the coaches decided to "try something different" today in the formation. We decided to try a 4-4-2 setup to see if we could change a few positions around and see if it worked. As we kicked off the new formation wasn't working but we gave the lads a bit of time to adapt to it. Sandbach were definitely up for the challenge and their league position belied their abilities and immediately the weaknesses of the knew formation were being exploited and they deservedly went ahead. We left the formation as it was for a few minutes to see if the goal would get the lads to make it work but clearly it didn't. A quick substitution and back to the usual formation and the ship started to steady and the boys became more comfortable for them to start playing how they can play. By half time the boys had drawn level and probably deservedly so.
As the boys came off at half time the made it clear that 4-4-2 was not popular summed up by Tom C ssaying "Can we never play 4-4-2 again!" Couldn't argue with that.
Second half was much better and more of what the boys are capable of and soon they began to dominate the game.
The result eventually reflected the overall performance.
Well done lads, they are showing a determination to win and go onwards and upwards.
Still unbeaten and turning into a decent season again.
Parents Man of the Match went to Tom B for a solid performance and another hat trick. Managers man of the match was a tough one this week with two people in close contention for superb commitment and efforts. Unfortunately Charlie K had to take second place to a superb performance by Ethan who was rock solid in defence but appears to be developing a more offensive role without losing focus on his defensive role.
