Away Game At Frodsham Played At Home
(Howard Crompton 26/01/2020)
This morning we welcomed Frodsham to Moss Farm in a pitch switch, and straight from the off we were on the front foot after some neat work resulting in Callum firing over the bar with the first of many chances. More of the same was coming Frodsham’s way as the first half wore on - chance after chance - with good movement up front and runs from the middle just not landing for us. With Josh dictating the play from midfield and spraying balls in every direction you could imagine it must be only a matter of time before we scored - just having to be careful not to get caught by the Frodsham counter attack. However we still had to wait until the last 10 minutes of the first half when Josh fired in a free kick into the bottom corner of the opposition net to make it 1-0. Strangely enough we were down to 10 men at this point after Matty was sin binned (again!)for questioning the ref. Still, we were on the front foot and went into half time 1-0 up. A couple of changes made for Part Two with the impressive Jordan coming onto the left side, we started the same as the first half with Witton on the front foot, 2 minutes later and sin bin now over we were back to 11 v 11. We did lose a bit of momentum in this half - the game got scrappy with a few fouls from both sides causing disruption, one player from each side earning a yellow card. When the game settled we took back control. The Frodsham back line failed to deal with a ball over the top and Muzzer causing havoc resulting in the CB pulling him down in the box - penalty and a red card, JD steps up to the spot to make it 2-0. Now to kill the game - and we did it soon after the pen - a well deserved goal for Jack, the keeper having no chance, making it 3-0. Within minutes comes a moment of magic from Jordy who’d been working his socks of this half, picking the ball up out wide, beating one, beating two, and drives into the box, beats a third man and then tucks it into the bottom corner - 4-0!! Players and subs celebrated but another yellow picked up for unnecessary pitch invasion by a substitute (no names Jack). Matty, still walking on thin ice, is booked for a comment to a team mate, so is subbed before we see a red card. A rare touch for Max in goal sees us out winners 4-0. Josh - captain fantastic with 2 goals earning MOM followed by Jack and Ben, who was outstanding in defence and coming forward. Probably one of the most solid performances from the team we've seen for a while, with Max barely touching the ball. One last comment has to be made - KEEP THE DISCIPLINE!!
