ZIGGA ZAGGA..ALBION WIN AGAIN!
(Andy Forbes 08/02/2015)
Another midnight (yes really!) pitch inspection meant that Witton Albion were yet again able to host a match when most of Cheshire football was becalmed by a pretend frost which never happened. “I’ll take this all day” exclaimed Frosty the Rotivator even though he was denied playtime with his favorite toy. Fans of pitch set-up were treated to splendid efforts by Koulis, who managed to grab some poles from the greedy Claire, who wanted all the poles to herself. In another nouveau pre-match development, parents bravely volunteered to lean on the giant iron grass munching monster-roller-beer keg combo near the corner.
Vice-captain Noah was made captain for the day and rolled into the huddle announcing “I’m having this”, again he applied this on the pitch as the opposition broke themselves on his hard tackling and Elliot J’s calm goalkeeping. It was scrappy in the first half, but Finn was looking very calm in defence, with some nice pick-ups and movement with the ball. As Witton started to take control with the unfamiliar 1-2-1-3-1-1 formation, Keegan was upended unceremonially and stroked the ball home from the penalty spot. Luke was starting to look like the real deal on the right wing as he sent a number of deft passes into the attacking area. It was end to end, with Vale going close a number of occasions as the white beanie-clad manager Shaun roared his troops on, but it was Witton who struck as Keegan was able slot home with a lovely left foot effort just before half time.
“I’ll take that all day” stated chief Chris in the half time team talk and Witton whizzed into attack with Theo going close and Ewan showing silky silky skills on the right side of defence, before Elliot showed great skill in evading a tackle and slotting home for a great goal. Lewis was pumped now and with a cool drag back and solid pass almost created the fourth goal. Vale suddenly attacked in waves leading to a nervous last 10 minutes, but Alex swept up and Witton were able to claim a richly deserved victory.
“I’ll take that result all day” claimed Chris for the hundredth time after the final whistle as the stroppy manager (still not satisfied) asked for his revolver.
Captain’s Man of the Match: Theo
Managers Man of the Match: Luke
Magic moment: Ollie’s trick in the second half
Quote of the day: “I’ll take that all day”
Attendance: 40
