FRODSHAMBLES V5

(Andy Forbes 02/10/2015)
Witton Albion welcomed the friendly faces of Frodsham Town for this top of the table clash at the Bowl on Sunday. Frodsham had "lost" their manager Jeff who had hot-footed it down to the rugby for the day but managed to remember the rest of the team. Witton Chief Chris was just glad he didn't have to piece together any more jigsaw-like goalposts for the rest of the season, "my hands are still sore from last week" chirped the chirpy chief from Runcorn.

Witton succumbed to the usual first-half antics, conceding 3 goals before the break from 3 shots but showed signs of attacking intent with some excellent crosses from Keegan.

The second half was a different matter and with Theo flying down the wing and opening his account for the season. This, interspersed with some cat-like saves from Alex, led to Witton tearing at the wobbly Frodsham defence with Luke and Lewis firing strongly in midfield and Ollie snaffled 2 great number 9 style goals. Witton so nearly clinched the winner as Sargeant Wilko broke free but it was Frodsham who slipped home the winner as the referee was bringing the whistle to his lips for the final whistle.

The team were unconsolable at the end but it was a great match against the table toppers and bodes well for the future.

Captain's man of the match: Luke
Managers man of the match: Alex
Quote of the day: "referee, we said stop the game!"
Magic moment: Ollie's second goal (more than 1 goal in a game at last!)
