WOLVES RUN DOWN LIONS!
(Andy Forbes 26/10/2015)
Witton Albion pitched up at nearby Egerton on Sunday, for once there was little confusion as to the pitch location as the chief Chris Alexander pitched his whiteboard-complete-with-little-magnet-picturettes firmly in the boggy part of the pitch stating "if it's good enough for Pearcey, it's good enough for me".
Witton were on the back foot in the first minute as they coped with some long bombs being launched from the nether regions of the Egerton midfield, however a stunning series of passing moves between Ewan, Theo, Ewan and Theo led to the latter planting home a drive into the far corner. Shortly after, another cross from the right led to a fantastic volley from Captain Lewis, surely goal of the season material. Finn was again looking strong at the back bringing the ball forward with ease and silky skills, he was unlucky not to score after hitting the bar from outside the box. The third arrived before half-time as Ollie squared for Thomas to slot in at the far post.
Egerton roared back in the second half and scored after a comical goalmouth scramble, but Alex and Tom A were looking pretty comfortable at the back. Elliot W, produced his best display of the season in deep midfield and set the platform for a Witton rennaissance, as Ollie literally terrorrised the home defence and it was his strong corner that Thomas volleyed into the net for number 4. Witton were now on top and Luke moved sweetly into centre midfield, producing another composed display, setting Noah up for a run into the box and a smart shot for his first goal of the season.
A splendid display from Witton, especially in the first half, where the manager was seen to actually break a smile at the football on display.
Captain's man of the match: Ollie
Manager's man of the match: Finn
Magic moment: Elliot J's outstanding left foot clearance
Quote of the day: "Come on head the ball, it's like kung fu panda out here!"
