CLOSE TO THE WIND AGAINST THE KITES!
(Andy Forbes 08/11/2015)
Witton managed to weather the half-term exodus and took to the pitch at Sandbach with just 10 lads. Burger bar stripped of all food - check; players ambling over in their own time - check; team happy and confident: check; manager stroppy - check.
Witton welcomed Dan the man for his debut game and he didn't disappoint showing some silky skills as he was shunted around the cavernous pitch by his new manager. The pitch was indeed somewhat large, half of it being in Staffordshire and the other touchline coming perilously close to the Welsh border.
In a low scoring game Witton almost shut out the table toppers and pressed hard for victory in the final third with Alex keeping another clean sheet and Luke showing great patience and tenacity in defence.
It was a game for defensive enthusiasts, so whilst the chief was purring the manager could be seen hopping around in frustration as yet another offside was called.
Captain's man of the match: Alex
Managers man of the match: Luke
Magic moment: A turn, touch and a sneaky lob from debut Dan
Quote of the day: "errr....surely we are now playing in the next field??!"
